Hi, pretty happy to introduce about me.I’ve now worked in IT for over 8 years, a thought that fills me with a combination of both pride and growing horror.Currently working with Knack Systems , premium SAP partner company. I obtained B.E Computer from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Mumbai University. Then I was employed in my first IT position as Jr.Oracle DBA with India’s well known Telecom company Reliance Communication . In such big organization I got the opportunity to work on huge databases. Simultaneously worked on IBM websphere as well. Mean time completed my Oracle 9i/10g/11g OCP. Same time finish my MBA in System from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Mumbai . In 2009 I joined Finacial Software & System (FSS) which is big giant in payment domain industry. In FSS I got the opportunity to handle the queries of all the banks (including SBI,Axis,IDBI etc.).So I got the good exposure on Banking Domain (including debit card, credit card,ATM machine etc.).In FSS I worked in various different roles, including PL/SQL Programming, Project Management, Database Design. Currently working in Knack Systems Pvt. Ltd. as Oracle DBA Lead. Handling large database as well got exposure on SAP basis as well.
I consider my self as a learner and always thirsty to know more. Knowledge is one thing that excites me and I feel that it increases by sharing. So here is my blogs, dedicated to my friends, with whom I would like to share my experiences, and expects the same from them (Please give your comments !!!!).
Worked on databases from 40 GB to 78 TB in size.Designed and implemented logical and physical database models. I have a solid techno-commercial background that allows me to make better decisions for my employer / clients on the basis of cost-effectiveness of different solutions.finally thanks to my family.

Thanks and Regards,
Fahim
Dear Fahim,
Thanks so much first of all for the kind words and for stopping by here. I am not that great as you have kindly mentioned but still, I am thankful to you for your kind words.
About learning and being a good DBA. For the learning path, I am learning and learning every day. What I can suggest is that keep on reading the material i.e. blogs, books, whitepapers, written by Gurus like Jonathan Lewis, Tom Kyte, Tanel Poder, Hans Forbrich, Hemant Chitale, Joel Garry and the list is so much big for me to put here. Keep on reading and try to make yourself more better day by day. Also, keep visiting on OTN forums especially “database general” forum where all the above mentioned gurus come and share their knowledge. I am too small to tell you anything else so that’s all I can tell you.
All the best!
Thanks & Regards,
Samadhan

Hi,
This is first time I am giving my comments for some site. What more can I say to appreciate you. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Pls recommend some books for passing OCA,how is SQL:THE COMPLETE REFERENCE?pls also let me know some books on dba oracle 10g?best sellers.
Dear Vinit,
Please use the books that are given to you from OU. Those are the best in the preparation and passing
the exams of OCP/A. I am not going to list the books which are “best sellers” here. You can check
Amazon for the best seller books. For the OCA, there is series of books from Oracle Press which
comes up, you may want to check that.

2. For DB Restore the patch level should be same in Source & Target.
Or My humble request if you have such type of doc could you pls forward to my email Id. idreesb4u@gmail.com

Mai.
Dear Mai,
Thanks a bunch for your kind words….Plese check new post of patch upgrade , altough you have mentioned for 10.2.0.2 but you can follow the same step of 10.2.0.4.
As i have mention all the details in my new post but if u r specificaly asking for query the you can try….
select comp_id,comp_name,version,status from dba_registry;
Abt you 2nd query I didn’t tried on different versions of server but as per my understanding, source & dest should be on same patch.
Please correct me if i am wrong….!!!!

Dear Pawar,
Greetings!
Iam a Basis Consultant. Currently Iam facing one issue like SAP DATA FILES Directory is totally full.
SAP DATA FILE Directory files :- sapbackup,saparch,sapcheck,sapdata1,2,3,4. ,sapreorg, saptrace. as we have 40mb space now we are going out of shortage of space in SAP DATA FILE Directory. Hence I can’t Extend the Tablespace space .
Query :- 1. If we attach one more disk to server shall we move the datafiles / Table spaces ?
2. If yes means what is the command to move ? Or How to move by manaul copy & Paste ?
3. If we move the files datafiles / Table Spaces further we can take backups …. If we move still any parameters need to be set in Oracle
Please advise on the same. Thanks last time you sent Oracle Upgrade steps . Awaiting for your Valueble Info.
Many Thanks !
Mai.
Dear Mahi,
Nice to see u r comment again….As you are out of space first option you can add new Hard dist to your system which is best suitable.
If you add new hard disk in your system you need not to move any tablespace / datafiles. From there onwards you just add new datafiles / tablespace in new location (of new HD …it’s all depends on u r OS…..if it is windows then it will be new drive….if it is unix system it will be new mount point….this wil take care by u r OS team simple….).So ultimately u r 2nd & 3rd query got resolved.
Or elsse you can go for space management.
Space management on DB level:
There are lot of table in SAP system which used to maintain the logs of transaction. If previous entry in those tables are not usefull you can delete those records as per requirement to gain space. As your Basis consultant you must be knowing this.If you want i will give you the list of all those tables as well through mail (like snap, baldat etc..).
Space management at OS level:
At OS levels lots of log files generated.so depending upon the policy by removing those file you can gain the space at OS level as well.
For example in /usr/sap/SID/DV*/ you can find directories like work, j2ee (If your using portal then file will generate in this as well). You will find lots of unncessary files over here once you start digging.
Hope all thisinfo usefull to you.I know you must be already knowing this but everyone can share this information so i put here…!!!!
Thanks & Regards,
Samadhan
https://samadhandba.wordpress.com/
Also once you done this please don’t forget to reorg table & index rebuild…..
Dear Pawar,
Thanks for your Comments ! If Possible if you update the detail steps it would be great for all . i.e. Which commands we need to run & Which Parameters to be run in oracle to know this Datafile/ Table space lyies in new drive. and which you mention as well re-org table & Index rebuild as well…..
Many Thanks
Mai.
Hi,
i m creating multiple users & i want to access tables to another users. please tell me how do this. & tell me the about hot backup & cold backup procedure.
Thanks,
Suyog
New learner
Dear Suyog,
First of all sorry for late reply was busy in RAC training.Hey you do it by just granting the select privilages to respective user, by grant select statement ( I beleives that both the users are in same DB otherwise you have to go for DB_LINK). And Hot backup means backup DB without shutdown and Cold backup means shutting down the DB while backup simple. You can find more details of it once you go throgh the my blog.Hope it works for you.
Thanks & Regards,
Samadhan
